Hello, my name is Frank Errickson. I come from a very artistic family. My mother
was a potter and jewelry artist, and now she is an intensive care nurse who still
produces beautiful pieces of jewelry. My father is a woodworker and
homebuilder who makes custom furniture and ukuleles (some of his work is featured on this site). He also plays acoustic guitar and the steel drums, and recently put out a CD with my brother to benefit Dawn Gray’s Nicaraguan Art Mission (see below for more information on the CD). At the age of nine, my parents bought me some stained glass tools, scrap pieces of glass, and painting supplies. I've been working in the two mediums ever since then. My work has always been about color, and with it I strive to capture some of the ever-changing, natural radiance and glow that I have experienced during my time in the water as well as in the Hawaiian Islands. In terms of re-creating this color, I feel that not much can compete with the intensity and brilliance of high-quality stained glass when sunlight is shining through it. While there are always multiple elements and design aspects to a stained glass window, a successful piece for me is one whose colors are front-and-center, where the glass speaks for itself, and the viewer is transported to a place of serenity and peace. One of the greatest influences in how I approach the art of stained glass is the fact that I am also a painter (however I have been exclusively focusing on stained glass and woodworking as of late). I design my stained glass pieces first as if they were a painting (ignoring the structural restrictions of working with rigid sheets of glass), and then figure out how to put them together afterwards. By making use of the various plating, etching, and copper-foil techniques that Louis Comfort Tiffany developed in the 1800s, I work to create stained glass windows with high levels of depth, color, shading, and luminosity. I would also like to briefly mention that my educational background is in political science, environmental studies, and sustainability, and with my work I try to benefit various charities and organizations in these fields. If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me. Thanks and Aloha.

Residential and commercial commissions designed specifically with your
ideas and requirements are available. With stained glass, there are many factors that can affect the price and work hours of a piece.
